The cost of taking instructions and drafting a Spanish power of attorney for an individual person, or for two people intending to sign the Spanish power of attorney at the same signing session, is just £130.00 with no Value Added Tax being added on top because Mr Wagner is not VAT registered. If three or more people wish to be included in the one Spanish power of attorney, the additional cost of having the third and subsequent donors is £32.50 per person on top of the base cost of £130.00, although there is still no VAT needing to be added on top.
The cost of taking instructions and drafting a Spanish power of attorney for an English limited company is £200.00 with no VAT being added on top because Mr Wagner is not VAT registered.
Spanish powers of attorney need to be notarised. The cost of having Mr Wagner notarise a Spanish power of attorney is just £75.00 with no VAT being added on top for one individual or for two people signing at one session. It is highly likely that the cost of having another notary public notarise the document will be more than just £75.00 with no VAT on top.
For each additional person signing a Spanish power of attorney and/or for each additional session that may be required notarising a Spanish power of attorney, for example, because there are three people signing the Spanish power of attorney or there are two people, each of whom want their own signing session, an additional charge of £50.00 per person or session needs to be added on top of the base cost of £75.00.
Sometimes it is necessary and/or convenient for Mr Wagner to travel to a client's place of work or residence, rather than have the donor travel to see Mr Wagner at 6 Lower Burch Row, Eyam, Sheffield, S32 5QF for the signing. In such cases a charge of just £35.00 an hour, (with no VAT needing to be added on top because Mr Wagner is not VAT registered), is made for the travelling and waiting.
Spanish powers of attorney also need to be legalised. This means that the UK's Foreign & Commonwealth Office needs to affix what is called an apostille in accordance with the Hague Convention of 1961. The Foreign & Commonwealth Office is, at the time of writing, charging £28.00 per document. The turn around time is very variable, and for a normal postal legalisation can take a number of weeks.
An expedited service is available for an extra charge of £75.00 and that should mean that the job of getting a Spanish power of attorney in place, from receiving instructions up to getting the document legalised, take just one week from when Mr Wagner receives definite instructions to proceed with getting the job done.
In short, it is possible to get a Spanish power of attorney drafted, notarised and legalised, ie ready for use in Spain, within a week of receiving instructions. The base cost for the expedited service is £130.00 + £75.00 + £28.00 + £75.00 = £308.00. The base cost for the slower service is just £233.00. Cheques should be made payable to Mr E R Wagner.
